Biography
Patrick Davenport is a research assistant pursuing his PhD in Geomatics at the University of Florida. A non-traditional scholar, he graduated summa cum laude with his Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Florida International University in 2026 following a twenty-year career in the beauty industry. He is driven by the belief that geospatial data science can be a tool for meaningful impact, with a particular interest in humanitarian applications and resource allocation.
Research Interests
His research focuses on the intersection of human and natural systems, particularly within geographic regions that are often underrepresented in spatial datasets.
- GeoAI: Utilizing geospatial artificial intelligence to enhance decision-making processes in humanitarian and environmental domains.
- Climate Resilience: Investigating the use of geospatial technologies to guide adaptation strategies for communities vulnerable to climate change.
- Volunteered Geographic Information: Assessing the utility and constraints of crowdsourced spatial data across underrepresented areas.
Outside of Research
In his free time, Patrick enjoys stepping away from city life through outdoor activities like kayaking, camping, hiking, and mountain biking, whether in his local area or while traveling. When at home, he likes to spend his time cooking, reading, and watching films.
